Jersey – Nuts About School is a new resource targeted at 3-9 yr olds. It tells the story of active, happy and competent Jersey who has anaphylaxis .
When confronted with an ‘unsafe' food situation, Jersey uses practical skills to avoid contact, problem solve and effectively communicate with her friends, skills that children can transfer into their own situation.
Jersey is a practical, positive and entertaining book that can be used in school and home settings alike. It deals with six strands of the NSW PD/H/PE syllabus including Active Lifestyle, Personal Health Choices, Communicating, Safe Living, Problem Solving and Interpersonal Relationships. A set of reproducible blackline masters for children covering these objectives and 2 x A3 sized posters are included in the package.

Peanut allergy occurs in about 1:50 children and is the most likely to cause anaphylaxis and death. Peanut butter is a particularly sticky product and presents the greatest hazard for peanut allergic children through contamination of door handles, desks, toys, taps, food preparation areas and tools, hands, mouths, clothes, playground equipment, etc .
